** PLEASE READ WinANSI.WRI before attempting to use WinANSI. Important
** INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS are included there.
Sincere thanks for the dogged determination of "The Wrecking Crew" during
some of the most intense quality assurance testing we've ever been put
through! Darrell Riddle and Roger Hopper have proven once again that the
author should not be allowed to test his/her own code! They have earned
their nickname.
WinANSI Version 1.8.1 - Release Notes (2/9/93)
Added ability to add color sequences by clicking the "Sample"
Button.
You may now hilight a block of text and assign a color sequence
to it. WinANSI will bracket the hilighted text with the new color
and any previous color. This way, you can insert color changes
into an existing block and have the color change only affect the
hilighted text.
Sample Button now displays the color assignments of the text at
the current cursor location. This can be disabled by selecting
the "Color Updates" option from the "Special" menu.
When you move the cursor into a color escape sequence, the entire
sequence is now highlighted. This allows you to easily replace
a previously assigned sequence. If you wish to manually edit
the sequence, turn off "Color Updates" on the "Special" menu.
WinANSI Version 1.7.1 - Release Notes (9/11/92)
Okay, so you guys caught me. I sing the Windows Standard and
then I assign something to F1 besides Help! Oops! Well, the
dust is blown off and the F1 gets assigned back to help where it
belongs.
Added a reminder to save the MASTER Text file when the first ANSI
Escape Sequence is added to a new or loaded file. See Help file
for more information.
Also, took this time to fix the display feature. Now displays
the ANSI screen full-screen with a pause to return to WinANSI
from the DOS window.
WinANSI Version 1.7.0 - Release Notes (8/16/92)
When you select a different line draw set from the menu or by the
SHIFT-Fx keys, the key display in Key Help updates to the proper
characters.
Changed separate foreground and background color boxes to a single
box that displays a sample of text using the last selected ANSI
settings from the ANSI Selection dialog.
PUT THE 1.x VERSION TO BED. THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST RELEASE OF THE
1.X FAMILY AS ALL KNOWN BUGS HAVE BEEN SQUASHED AND THE CODE IS AS
TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. WORK ON 2.0 HAS BEGUN IN EARNEST - WE'RE HOPING
FOR A LATE SEPTEMBER BETA. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR
BETA, YOU MUST LET US KNOW BY ONE OF THE CHANNELS LISTED IN THE
DOCUMENTATION OR THE HELP FILE.
WinANSI Version 1.6.5 - Release Notes (8/5/92)
Fixed **big OOPS** in exit when file not saved. Request to save now
appears before file save as dialog. Please be sure you are using
COMMDLG.DLL distributed with WinANSI, NOT version that comes with
Windows 3.1!
Key Help Dialog now stays on top of editor window. You can bring
Key Help up and then click back in the Editor. Or, you can now type
while Key Definition Help window is displayed. This is in addition to
the ability to click on the key or graphic character. All Characters
are passed properly, including ENTER, TAB and BACKSPACE.
WinANSI Version 1.6.4 - Release Notes (7/29/92)
Improved imformation in help file.
Fixed current working color indicators as follows:
Clicking in either will bring up the ANSI Selection Dialog
When BRIGHT on or off was clicked, foreground color wasn't
updated unless you changed the foreground color. This now
updates properly.
Added "Select Color" menu option to the Special menu. Has same
effect as hitting ESCAPE.
WinANSI Version 1.6.3 - Release Notes (7/25/92)
Fixed a glitch in the entry of IBM PC-ASCII block characters that
made it necessary to hit backspace twice to delete a character or
enter twice to place a carriage retrun after one of these characters
was entered.
WinANSI Version 1.6.2 - Release Notes (7/19/92)
This one is a maintenance release - finally got around to learning
how the MS Help Compiler works! There is now an on-line help file
included with WinANSI.
Fixed a problem with the ANSI Selection Dialog getting lost under
certain instances.
WinANSI Version 1.6 - Release Notes (6/11/92)
More interface fine tuning.
Moved application to Windows 3.1-only environment. This fixed
numerous problems with fonts and dialog display inconsistencies. If
you absolutely require a 3.0-compatible product, drop me a note on
Compuserve or at FTIN BBS (904) 789-9336.
Provided methods to allow loading and saving files with .TXT and .ANS
extensions. Sorry about that.
WinANSI now uses the Windows 3.1 Common Dialog for File open and save
functions.
Attached the F11 function key to call up the Numeric Keypad and F-key
assignments.
Attached the SHIFT-F1 through F4 keys to the line draw character
settings to make selecting the type of line easier.
TAB insertion is now fully done. You can use the TAB key as you would
normally expect. You do not have to use CTRL-TAB any more.
WinANSI Version 1.5 - Release Notes (3/18/92)
Updated interface based on user input.
Fixed (I hope) still elusive tab problem in editor. Tabs should now
be translated to the appropriate number of spaces to move active
insert point to next logical tab point.
Fixed EDIT menu giving options to copy, cut or paste nothing.
WinANSI now uses a private .INI file so it remembers things like
whether to create backup files, if you are using PowerBBS, where
the window was positioned last session and others.
WinANSI Version 1.2e - Release Notes (9/21/91)
Fixed problem with hardwired TEMP directory setting
(seen when attempting to view the file {F12})
WinANSI Version 1.2 - Release Notes (8/6/91)
Fixed "Save As" Illegal Function Error
Solved Process Hog problem. WinANSI now multi-tasks nicely
Added support for starting of PowerBBS Nodes upon exit. See WinANSI.WRI
for information on additional configuration requirements.
Note: When using {CTRL}-{TAB} to insert a literal {TAB} in your text,
be sure to release the {CTRL} key before typing additional {CTRL}-{TAB}
sequences. This will be resolved in the next, full scale, update.
WinANSI Version 1.1 - Release Notes
No further information at this time. See WinANSI.WRI
